3 Bath Mistakes That Are Ruining Your Relaxation

A bath should feel like a mini vacation for your brain.

But a few common habits can accidentally turn your relaxing soak into… well… just sitting in hot water.
Here are three quick fixes that can instantly upgrade your bath experience.
1. Water That’s Too Hot
We get it. A super hot bath feels amazing at first.
But water that’s too hot (above 104°F) can actually make your body work harder instead of relaxing. It may leave you feeling tired or overheated afterward.
Sweet spot:Aim for 100–103°F — warm, soothing, and perfect for relaxing muscles.
Think comfortably cozy, not boiling lobster.
2. Stadium-Level Lighting
Bright overhead lights are great for finding your towel.
But they are terrible for relaxation.
Your brain associates bright light with daytime productivity — not unwinding.
Here's a quick upgrade:
Turn off the overhead light and use:
• a couple candles
• a soft lamp
• warm, dim lighting
Instant spa vibes.

3. Bringing Your Phone Into the Bath
Your bath should be a stress-free bubble, not a mobile office.
Emails, news, and social media keep your brain busy when it’s supposed to be slowing down.
Try this instead:
Leave your phone outside the bathroom and play music if you want background sound. It's hard to do, we know - but so worth it!
Twenty minutes without notifications is surprisingly magical.
